Grazing Club Event

Title: Grazing Club Event
Location: Elphinstone
Description: Wednesday, August 3 at 9:30am
We will meet in Elphinstone at Hilltop Groceteria and Gas to tour two pieces of land that Nature Conservancy of Canada purchased approximately 6 years ago. The cultivated acres on both quarters have been converted to a diverse mix of grasses and legumes. One quarter is grazed, the other hayed. We will compare the two managements. The results may surprise you.

We will also discuss the pasture management plan and the value of grazing for wildlife habitat. Both quarters were soil tested this year. Analysis included soil biology and carbon as well as typical nutrients (N, P, K).

This is a unique opportunity to meet with NCC staff to find common ground between agriculture, conservation and wildlife.
