Leafy Spurge Beetle Forum

May 12, 2009

Leafy spurge (Euphorbia esula L.) is a threat to biodiversity in nature lands and agricultural lands, and costs Manitobans in excess of $20 million per year. To assist organizations in understanding and developing bio-control plans for Leafy Spurge Beetle, a forum is being organized.

The forum will address pertinent topics and provide participants resource materials. Guest speakers will provide insight to leafy spurge beetle control in conjunction with herbicide applications, establishing harvest/nurse sites, and share lessons learned from Manitoba experiences. Government departments/agencies and industry are encouraged to attend.

The forum will be held May 12, 2009 in Brandon. The event will start at 9:00 AM and conclude at 4:00 PM. The Leafy Spurge Beetle Forum is co-hosted by the Leafy Spurge Stakeholders Group, Invasive Species Council of Manitoba, and Agri-Environment Services Branch. Registration for the event is free, however, pre-registration is required to ensure adequate resources are available at the event. Please call.
