Harvested hay and silage are valuable products that are necessary for feeding livestock throughout Manitoba. Learn about making high quality hay and silage, managing fields, testing and storing options.

Presentation topics include: How to Harvest High Quality Hay; Fertility for Optimum Alfalfa Production; The Economics of Hay and Silage Storage; Putting up High Quality Silage; Effective Fibre, High Potassium Storage: Effect on Rumen PH.

In-field demonstrations include: Measuring Quality Using the PEAQ Method; Soil Salinity; Variety Selection and Leaf to Stem Ratios in Alfalfa; Hay Quality Differences.

Machinery Demos: cutting, raking, tedding and baling from major equipment manufacturers.

Cost: $10 per person, $5 per child (includes lunch)
