Description: August 12, 2016

Leaving the Ranch Young to Young, Like-Minded Producers

Are you interested in learning how to preserve farm land by successfully transferring management to the younger generation? Do you want to learn how we can heal our land with a healthier food system? Are you interested in improving the health of your entire community?

Our Hicks Ranch Day is part of HMI’s Open Gate Learning Series. Open Gates are peer-to-peer action-based learning days with short presentations and small group exercises geared for participants to share discoveries and management techniques with guidance from experienced facilitators and producers.

Come and be a part of this on-the-ground learning day and help strengthen your local foodshed. Because we all have a stake in the way our food is grown.

At the Open Gate: Hicks Ranch Day, you will…

– Meet Glen and Doreen Hicks, innovative ranchers who are bringing on a new generation of sustainable land managers
– Hear first hand experiences with how focusing on healthy soils creates quality foods
– Discover the value of a holistic goal
– Explore furthering succession of the plant community while planning for succession of your agricultural enterprise
– Have a chance to ask producers who have practiced these techniques
– Learn how Holistic Management enables producers to better manage risk, make better decisions and enjoy the benefits of regenerative agriculture
