Manitoba Agriculture, Manitoba Forage and Grassland Association and Manitoba Beef Producers bring to you the Manitoba Livestock Tour featuring novel and innovative ideas implemented by successful livestock operations.
Tour Focus
This tour has been designed to showcase different ideas and strategies to help producers increase profits and manage workloads associated with today’s livestock operations. Larger herds, working off–farm, value added or diversification of enterprises have required innovative thinking.
Take this opportunity to learn from other producers by adapting new concepts to suit your own operation.
TOPICS:
Day 1
annuals for grazing
winter corn grazing
innovation in forage establishment
feeding and calving strategies for large herds
value added through organic production
Day 2
using calving cameras without electricity
weather station data
consumer trends in beef consumption
tour of assembly yards
feedlot tour
creep feeding to extend your pasture
using beef cattle to compliment another farm enterprise
For this “Tailgate Tour” bring your own vehicle and follow from one tour stop to the next. Start the tour with full tank of fuel.
Please wear clean footwear and outerwear to respect our co-operators bio-security.
All producers will need to register in advance so that we can plan for catering requirements and adhere to tour participant limits at some venues.
Come spend a day or two with like-minded beef producers who have successfully expanded within Manitoba
