DR. CAROL SHWETZDVM – “The Importance of Forages in the Equine Diet”

Carol grew up on a farm in northern Alberta and decided as a pre-schooler to become a
veterinarian. In 1986 she graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine
with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. After this time a strong interest and focus in horses led her to establish an equine practise first in the Westlock area. Studies beyond veterinary schooling have included dentistry, nutrition, hoof care, and alternative therapies, such as acupuncture, craniosacral, chiropractic care and horsemanship. 

DR. RICHARD BAZINETPhD – “Forages are the Starting Point for Healthy Omega 3s”

Dr. Bazinet received his BSc from the University of Western Ontario and completed his PhD under the supervision of Dr. Stephen Cunnane at the University of Toronto in 2003.  The overall goal of Dr. Bazinet’s research program is to identify the mechanisms that regulate brain lipid metabolism (signaling) and to identify the role of brain lipid metabolism in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases and neuropsychiatric disorders.  

JULIE VAN ROSENDAALFood Expert & Writer – “How Forage & Feed Practices Affect the Dairy Products We Consume” 

Julie Van Rosendaal is the Calgary-based author of twelve best-selling cookbooks. She has been the food columnist on the Calgary Eyeopener on CBC Radio One for over 16 years, she’s a food journalist, writing primarily for the Globe and Mail, but also for other publications across Canada. Julie teaches, speaks and cooks at culinary schools and events across the country, and has a very engaged audience on her social media channels and website, Dinner with Julie.
